ANNUAL REPORT SUMMARY 2024–2025

Introduction
In 2024–2025, UNCC continued its mission to support vulnerable seniors, refugees, child‑mothers, and at‑risk community members across Rhino Camp, Eden Settlement, Terego District, and Arua City. Despite operating with limited funding, UNCC achieved significant humanitarian impact through strong volunteer engagement and strategic partnerships.

1. Senior Support & Health Interventions

• 634 seniors supported through UNCC community programs
• 85 elderly persons received medical care at Arua Regional Referral Hospital, Family Clinic, and Mego Hospital
• 17 shelter units built for vulnerable senior refugees
• Free physiotherapy services provided in Arua, serving 16 seniors daily
• 473 referrals made for medical, social, and protection support
• 17 mental health cases supported with counselling and follow‑up
• 62 wheelchairs distributed to seniors with mobility challenges
• 546 walking sticks distributed across refugee settlements
• 3 seniors (aged 87+) receiving ongoing nutrition support and adult nappies
• Non‑food items distributed to refugee and host‑community seniors, including sanitary pads, soap, and hygiene kits

2. Child‑Mothers & Youth Protection

• 80 child‑mothers supported with hygiene supplies, counselling, and school‑return support
• Awareness campaigns conducted on:
– Early pregnancy prevention
– Youth crime and community safety
– Gold mining risks after a fatal mine wall collapse that killed a woman
• Snack‑safety awareness conducted to protect children from harmful street foods
• Five community signposts designed and installed to promote youth safety messaging

3. Logistics, Equipment & Infrastructure Support

• Three medical‑equipment containers arrived at Mombasa Port for Uganda distribution
• Three Toyota Land Cruiser V8 vehicles secured to support seniors as emergency ambulances
• 621 wheelchairs arrived in Africa for regional use
• 49 hospital beds delivered for health facilities
• 741 eyeglasses provided for seniors and persons with low vision
• 67 new physiotherapy machines (including electric units) delivered
• 8 PA system speakers procured for senior community events
• 200 plastic chairs provided for senior gatherings in Rhino, Eden, and Terego camps
• 17 food‑drying tents distributed to support senior livelihoods

4. Community Engagement & Protection Activities

• Five senior risk assessments conducted across settlements
• Five coordination meetings held with OPM and partners
• Senior‑only Refugee Day celebrations hosted, with full breakfast and lunch served for Rhino and Eden settlements
• Monthly senior meetings supported with PA systems and mobility aids
• Awareness campaigns on unqualified medical practices, focusing on:
– Untrained clinics inside camps
– Misleading traditional healers in DR Congo
– The case of Idoru, who consumed unsafe herbal mixtures (8 five‑litre containers), resulting in permanent mobility loss
• Advocacy emphasised safe healthcare, protection, and timely referrals

5. Water, Sanitation, and Community Health

• Continued hygiene promotion for seniors, child‑mothers, and families
• Distribution of soap, sanitary pads, and hygiene items across settlements
• Awareness on safe water practices, personal hygiene, and household sanitation

Conclusion & 2025 Outlook

UNCC continues to operate as a grassroots humanitarian organisation with a strong focus on seniors, vulnerable families, and protection of youth. In 2025, UNCC aims to expand:

• Emergency relief capacity
• Physiotherapy services
• Protection programs for girls and boys
• Support for child‑mothers
• Senior mobility and health services
• Partnerships with UNHCR, OPM, and local authorities

With donor support, UNCC will strengthen its impact and ensure that no vulnerable person is left behind.
